Adoption Day!!!!

Tate's adoption day was Tuesday, May 27th! A day I will never forget...the day my son became my "forever" son! The court hearing was great. They told us to be there at 8:30am and that our case would probably be seen closer to 9am. Well, we got off the elevator and our attorney was waiting for us with our caseworkers to let us know the judge was ready for our case. Yay!

So, I quickly passed out gifts to our caseworkers and we went before the judge. All of our caseworkers were there: Tiffany (our caseworker who has represented me and T thru this whole foster-to-adopt process), Cheryl (Tate's caseworker who approved our match), and Charlotte (our adoption caseworker). Our attorney, Mike, was absolutely great and I recommend him to anyone needing a family law attorney.

The judge talked to me and T about raising children and told us that finalizing this adoption of Tate would give us (and him) all rights as if we have given birth to him. That's when the tears started flowing. I was so excited and emotional...and elated!!! This entire 4 year infertility journey has been difficult, confusing and heartbreaking but we can look back now and see how our God was in control every step of the way. Without the infertility problems we may have never looked at adoption...and without the adoption we would not have Tate. God, you are above all!

After the court hearing (and time for a few pictures) we were off to sign the official paperwork at the new Belton courthouse. When we exited the elevator to leave the first courthouse, we were greeted by our sweet friends, the Fuller Family: Kent & Mindy and their precious kiddos, Faith, Creed, and Kate (Tate's girlfriend!) They had come to support us!

Later that morning, we continued the celebration at Chick-Fil-A meeting up with Heidi and her son Josh and Tiffany and her son Cade along with Mindy and the kids. That evening we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse with my brother, Patrick, and his girlfriend, Laura.

What a memorable day! :)

We are so thankful that God has blessed our family with Tate. He is truly a blessing from the Lord. We're the proudest grandparents in the world and we love our Tate!
